One of the requirements for acquiring a Japan Tourist Visa for the first time is the PSA Birth Certificate and/or PSA Marriage Certificate if one is married. Sadly though, these documents are valid only for 6 months – the Travel Agency would not accept old documents. So if you have an old PSA Birth Certificate or PSA Marriage Certificate – you would have to get a fresh copy of it. Once granted a Japan tourist visa, your next application exempts you from these documents. 🙂
Before you go – bring all your IDs so you won’t have to go back in case they request for another ID/s. Also, bring an authorization letter as well as photocopy of their IDs if you are getting documents for someone. Also bring your own pen but in case you forget it, there are ballpens stationed there but you have to queue.
I’ll share here my smooth walk-in experience in getting a Birth Certificate at PSA’s Main Branch located at PSA Complex, East Ave. Diliman, Quezon City. To get there, you should ride a bus bound for SM Fairview and drop off at V. Luna or SSS Main.
I dropped off at V. Luna Jollibee and crossed the overpass. Walk towards the building.
Get inside the complex until you see this building. Go to the parking floor on the right.
Here at the the Parking Floor, you will surrender one of your IDs and they will give you a temporary visitor pass which you can use to enter the building.
According to this note posted – if you only have 1 ID, you can photocopy it so you can proceed with the application. Also, minors are not allowed for transaction.
Visitor Pass acquired.
Upon entering, you will be greeted by the well-air conditioned building. The guards here are very polite and would answer steps/documents-related questions.
The forms are properly located and there are pens stationed as well. Fill it out properly and proceed to the payment counters.
Look at that, there are 35 counters so transaction is really fast! 🙂
I only paid 155 pesos for a copy of Birth Certificate.
Next step is to proceed at the second floor – climb the stairs found on the left side and go to the releasing area.
The waiting area – it is very spacious and well-air conditioned. Listen carefully for your name to be called and which window you will go to.
There are 35 releasing windows so it a really fast transaction. I spent less than an hour to complete my transaction.
There are also drinking fountains.
The CR is also well maintained and it is super clean!
To summarize, there are only 3 steps : Application Form > Payment > Releasing.
Kudos PSA! Keep up the great work! 🙂

I usually head home after my return flight and take the next full day to rest before going back to work. But this time, it was different – I had to report back to work right after my flight. Imagine touching down at NAIA at 5PM on a weekday – imagine how bad the traffic and how much it would cost to take a taxi.
Good thing, there are P2P (point-to-point) Buses that travel to and from NAIA and one stops near my workplace. It is my first time to try this and all I can say is that this is a convenient way to travel to and from the airport.
Just outside the arrival hall at NAIA Terminal 3, there are P2P buses bound for key terminals in Metro Manila. UBE Express has routes going to Araneta Center Cubao, Robinson’s Galleria Ortigas, Alabang, and Sta. Rosa Laguna.
This is the bus bound for Robinson’s Galleria which I immediately boarded without a ticket lol I was told by the inspector to buy one at Bay 10.
I bought my ticket at 6:57PM and the bus departs at 7PM. Wew.
The fare guide. NAIA to Robinson’s Galleria for P70 only? Why not? 😀
Those are the P2P Bus Dispatch Schedule for different routes. Allot ample time so you won’t have to wait for the next bus.
Inside the bus, the center is for the priority seat as well as the luggage.
The bus was 60% occupied during my ride. Plenty of vacant seats.
This is our bus at the Robinson’s Galleria Terminal which will depart back to NAIA.
Overall, it was a very comfortable ride for a very affordable price. Definitely would do this again! 🙂
Thank you UBE Express. #UltimateBusExperience indeed!

One of the favorite salary loan for employees is the PAGIBIG Salary Loan, it is pretty much the twin of SSS Salary Loan. It is very easy to avail and only takes few steps to actually file and get the loan proceeds.
I have been applying for PAGIBIG Loan since 2010 and it has always been dedicated for home repairs and renovation. The amount of loan will depend on the contribution you have and it is payable for two years by salary deduction. I think those who have availed of the PAG-IBIG loan several times would agree about it being “hindi ramdam” during salary deduction right? 🙂
Let’s get started!
Below is the short-term loan availment procedure as posted on the PAGIBIG Branch. As noted, kindly register first online and have your MID and RTN ready.
First, fill out the Salary Loan Form which you can ask for a copy from your HR/Finance. If they don’t have it, you can ask the guards at the PAGIBIG Office for one. Please have 2 witnesses and ask them for a signature. I remember missing those witnesses and I was sad because I had to go back again!
Next, have a copy of your payslip and have it authenticated by your HR/Finance Department. If you have a “print me” version of your payslip, that would be great. If not, you can fill out the back portion of the application form manually. It is very important that you have it authenticated by HR/Finance. I have seen quite a number of applicants being denied because they have their copy of payslips but not authenticated.
Have a photocopy of your valid IDs. I suggest you bring them all so the Pag-Ibig Officer will have lots of options. Some of my IDs were not accepted so it was a good thing I brought a bunch. When you go to their office, don’t forget to bring the original as well because they will check it. Below is a list of valid IDs acceptable by PAG IBIG.
The last step would require going to their office. Please note that you have to go to the PAGIBIG Branch that has jurisdiction over your company. There are people being denied because they are in the wrong branch so check with your officemates or HR which branch you should go.
At the PAG IBIG branch, head to the reception area and they will check if you have complete requirements and then will give you a number to proceed.
You will be queued and the your number will be displayed on which counter you should go to. Good thing everyone is seated and the place is really well airconditioned so you won’t be drained. Based on my experience, it won’t take an hour to complete the transaction.
The PAGIBIG Officer will check all your requirements and once approved, you will be given the STL Acknowledgement Receipt as well as the Cash Card where the loan proceeds will be credited.
After 3 – 5 working days, you will receive a text that your PAGIBIG Loan has been credited. Proceed to the Landbank ATM and withdraw the cash.
Easy right? 🙂
Lastly, do not forget to go back to the PAGIBIG Branch and ask for the Statement of Account. You will then give the SOA to your HR/Finance Team for salary deduction. 🙂
Hope this helped you. Feel free to comment or share this post to your friends. 🙂
Some friends of mine heading to Japan have been asking me for the Schedule of Stay document which is required for the tourist visa application.
I usually send them thru email but sometimes I don’t have access and it’s hard to dig to old emails. There are also times where I tell them that I’ll send the file and then boom forgot about it. (Sorry friends, I’m a very busy person you know lol).
I have been forwarding this document since 2015! So here goes, for everyone’s access – the Schedule of Stay. For now I can only offer Osaka and Tokyo since I haven’t been to other parts of Japan.
The date on the top right should be the date of your visa application
The dates on the first column should be the actual dates of your trip to Japan.
The Activity Plan are your day-to-day itinerary.
The Contact is your contact person but if you don’t have it, just put the name of the hotel.
The Accommodation is your hotel/guest house/hostel.
Print it on an A4 size paper and you’re done with one of the requirements for your Japan Visa Application!
I hope it helps! Good luck! 🙂

Check out One Plus One Hotel which is located near the Ximen Station (just 1 station away from Taipei Main Station)
This is a small hotel which is located at the 3rd Floor of #34 Kunming St, Ximending, Taipei, Taiwan. It is very near the Ximending Night Market so you are surrounded by convenience stores, foods and drinks, as well as souvenirs.
HOW TO GO TO ONE PLUS ONE HOTEL?
From Taipei Main Station, go to Ximen Station which is just 1 station apart. Go to Exit 6 and walk to the right towards Kunming St and find the building #34. It might be hard to find the first time so ask around or use Google Maps. 🙂
Below are some pics taken during our stay and check out my quick One Plus One Hotel review.

Everything is white in this comfort / shower room! It was very very clean when we arrived!
Our room has a big television. My nephew enjoyed watching animated films though in Chinese language.
A gentle reminder posted at the back of the door.
There’s free coffee as well as hot and cold water located near the elevator so take advantage of that 🙂
We had an amazing stay at One Plus One Hotel, look at how my nephew sleeping so soundly. 🙂
People who set their eyes on Taiwan will probably have Taichung on their itinerary. Taichung is 3 hours away from Taipei and is perfect for a day trip from the capital. The most popular destinations are Houli Flower Farm, Rainbow Village and the Sun and Moon Lake.
My cousin is working in Taichung so we took the time to go to Taichung to meet her and we planned to go to Houli Flower Farm and Rainbow Village together.
All set, we opted to go to Taichung DIY-style, by taking the Bus 1826 from Taipei Main Station, instead of hiring a private car to go there.
First, go to Taipei Main Station and head to the bus platform. I know Taipei Main Station is quite like a maze so don’t hesitate to ask the people around. 🙂
We went to the Kuo-Kuang Bus Station which is located outside the Taipei Main Station. They directed us to go to the one inside the mall instead.
The Bus Station inside the mall looks great and is well maintained just like the main bus station. The air-conditioning and space gives travelers cool head while waiting for their buses.
The booth for Kuo-Kuang Bus. Here you can purchase your ticket.
Taipei to Taichung costs NTD 270 per adult.
The Kuo-Kuang 1826 Bus bound for Taichung.
We boarded the bus just in time for our 9AM departure.
The bus has mini TV which my nephew enjoyed just seeing himself from the reflection lol
The bus offers high-speed Free WiFi.
The bus leaves exactly as the departure time so be sure to be early or you might miss your bus.
There’s a charging port so no worries about your mobile device getting low power.
It has a comfort room so you don’t have to worry about your weak bladder.
We arrived in rainy Taichung around 12noon, just in time for the 3-hour ride.
The child ticket costs only NTD 155.
The Kuo-Kuang Ticket Office in Taichung Bus Terminal. According to their staff, the last trip going to Taipei is at 11PM.
Lastly, you can use your credit card to purchase the bus tickets. The receipt is for 3 adults and 1 kid.
If you’ve read my Taiwan Itinerary, you probably knew that we failed to go to the Flower Farm and Rainbow Village due to the heavy rain. Despite that, it has been a fruitful tour because we were able to reunite with our relative.
I hope to be back in Taichung again and hopefully on a sunny day. 🙂

Back when we toured Osaka, we were having buffet lunch with some foreigners and upon knowing that we are Filipinos, they excitedly mentioned how beautiful the paradise of El Nido was. It was a shame but I admitted that I haven’t been there! 😦
Palawan has been dominating travel sites and magazines and is regarded as one of the “Best Islands in the World“. The Google Images were really inviting so when I got the chance for Cebu Pacific Air’s pisofare, I immediately booked a trip to Palawan.
Below is a summary of my expenses when I traveled to El Nido, Palawan.

As usual, I was able to score Cebu Pacific’s PisoFare round-trip to Puerto Princesa for only P2595.75 and that’s for 3 persons. The round-trip airfare only costs 865.24 pesos per head:
For El Nido accommodation, you may check thru Agoda:
I drafted a DIY itinerary and I found it more expensive and hassle as I need to coordinate with different persons. I instead opted to go for an all-in package of 4D3N for only 4000 pesos. Below are the inclusions and itinerary:
Package Inclusions:
Round-trip van transfer Puerto Princesa Airport – El Nido – Puerto Princesa Airport
2 nights room accommodation in El Nido
1 night room accommodation in Puerto Princesa
Daily Breakfast
Tour A with lunch
Tour C with lunch
There’s already daily breakfast and lunch so all we need to spend is the dinner. 🙂
Daily Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in PPS Airport / Transfer to El Nido
Day 2: Tour A with lunch
Small Lagoon Big Lagoon Secret Lagoon Shimizu Island Seven Commando Beach
Day 3: Tour C with lunch / Transfer to PPS
Helicopter Island Matinloc Shrine Secret Beach Star Beach Hidden Beach
Day 4: PPS Airport / Flight to Manila
It was a rainy day and I had a fight with my girlfriend lol. Really bad that when I tried reaching out to her, she was not responding – at all. Just 6 hours before the flight, I still got no word. I then decided to bring along my nephew since the tour package was already paid. The flight for my nephew was a bit expensive though.
Our flight was around 9:45AM and it would take an hour to reach Puerto Princesa City. We arrived with a very beautiful weather.
Outside the airport you will be greeted with agents with placards of their guests. You just have to find your name if you availed of a tour package. If you’re on DIY route, just ask them for vans going to El Nido, fare is P500 to 600.
The van is shared with other tourists so we had to wait for the others to arrive. We left the airport around 12noon and traveled to El Nido which takes about 5 hours. There are few stop-overs but be warned that the store pricing would make you raise an eyebrow. Good thing we had brunch at NAIA. Wew.
We arrived at rainy El Nido Terminal around 5PM and looked for our accommodation Chariz Inn. After unpacking we went out and looked for a place to eat dinner. There are lots of dining place around the area but I highly recommend the Bulalo Plaza. Below is the menu, the serving is good enough for 2 to 3 persons.
It was raining hard the next day – to the point that our tour guide was waiting further instructions from the Coast Guard if we can proceed with the tour. I was getting anxious that the tour might get cancelled…. REALLY? SERIOUSLY? Along with this broken heart lol.
We had our free breakfast (choice of either tocino, corned beef, hotdogs, etc with rice and sunny side egg – and coffee of course). We got lucky that the rain has stopped and we were given a go signal to proceed. Our tour guide picked us up at our accommodation and we walked to the Tourist Information Center where we registered and paid for the P200 Environmental Fee. Also, there are lots of vendors selling waterproof bag. It’s a must for your gadgets – I highly recommend getting one.
We were all set for the tour and we departed the port at around 9AM. It was storming and it was scary to be in the middle of the sea with our little boat. The foreigners touring with us were very scared and demanded we go back to the port. Our Tour Guides assured them that it is okay – that the storm will pass – like my broken heart lol.
It was crazy out there, the weather changes drastically – either raining or shining. Somehow I felt like a Straw Hat Crew out in an adventure. It was fun!
Kudos to our tour guides for keeping us safe, taking amazing pictures and preparing our foods like these:
There’s also some guys selling coconut and drinks so if you want some beer, they got it 😀
We got back to El Nido town around 5PM. We went to the nearby bakery and grabbed some hot bread and coffee. Got back to our inn and refreshed. For dinner we went to Bulalo Plaza.
The second and last day for the El Nido Tour. This time, the weather was a bit nicer but it was still raining.
Matinloc Shrine was my favorite part of this tour though I got some really serious goosebumps here – felt like there’s some other world creatures lurking. It was very secluded and our group was the only people here so it was very quiet.
We then went to 2 other islands and the waves and wind were stronger. It felt like our boat was not gonna make it. It was really nice to have Captain Sparrow on board. Wew.
We went back to El Nido port around 5PM and made a quick preparation. We departed El Nido past 6PM and our van driver dropped us at Corazon Tourist Inn in Puerto Princesa City.
We got the sun on our 4th and last day in Palawan. We had brunch at Nokinocs which is just a few steps away from our accommodation. Nokinocs serves really delicious and affordable combo meals.
After our brunch, we then informed the receptionist at Corazon Tourist Inn that we are going to the airport. They offer free transfer to the airport so it was really a great experience with them. If you’re going to Puerto Princesa, stay at Corazon Tourist Inn – which you book thru Agoda.
That’s it. It was an amazing tour despite the storms and heartache. Touring one of the best islands in the world is not expensive right? Definitely going back to El Nido!
If you wish to avail of tour packages, kindly let me know. 🙂

I first set sights on Taiwan after watching the movie #WalangForeverway back 2015. I thought it was going to be my next destination but it was only this year (2019) that I was able to go to Taiwan.
Taiwan is currently visa-free for Filipinos. I did not actually worry about Taiwan not extending the visa-free status since I can enter Taiwan with the use of my Japan Tourist Visa.
I scored another pisofare deal from Cebu Pacific Air way back last year. PHP 8107.16 for 4 persons equals PHP 2026.79 roundtrip airfare to Taipei!
Below is the screenshot of the payment details 😉
For the accommodation, we stayed at One Plus One Hotel which costed PHP 9958.99, divided by 4 equals PHP 2489.75 each for 6D5N.
To be honest with you, my tour in Taipei was incomplete. There’s so much missing, so many places we didn’t get to visit due to the rain. My heart is longing to be back as soon as possible. Despite the rain and missing pieces – we were able to enjoy Taipei.
Day 1 – Touchdown Taiwan! Taoyuan International Airport Taipei Main Station Ximen
Cebu Pacific Air welcomed us to Taoyuan International Airport as we touched down the sunny Taiwan. Our lansones was confiscated at the airport. Just a reminder, if you’re heading to Taiwan, do not bring fruits and vegetables. Good thing there was no fine at all. Meanwhile, bringing meat products could cost 1 Million NTD.
My nephew was so energetic and is taking the lead. We decided to take the bus to Taipei and had lunch at Taipei Main Station.
We bought 4 EasyCards with 400 NTD each for use in our train rides in Taipei. Ximen (my nephew calls this X-Men Station) is our home station and is just next to Taipei Main Station.
We had hard time finding our hotel, we went to the opposite end of the road and that the hotel is on the other end, as usual, charge to experience. We were so exhausted with all the baggage and heat. We checked-in and stayed for a bit (AC finally!) and went out for dinner. I was surprised to see Ximending especially during the night – it feels like I was teleported to Tokyo! Huge billboards, overwhelming crowd, bright lights, it’s like a city that never sleeps.
Day 2 – The Cable Car Ride and The Great Panda Maokong Gondola Taipei Zoo Taipei 101
My nephew is a big fan of Panda and this is his main quest in Taipei – to see for himself the Great Panda. We woke up early and left the hotel just around 8AM. The owner was very helpful and guided the shortcut to Ximen Station as well as the train route to take. We reached Taipei Zoo Station and my nephew was already hungry so we ate biscuits at the benches before heading to Maokong Gondola.
I loved the Cable Car in Singapore and I’m not letting the chance to ride the Maokong Gondola pass me by. I was about to use my credit card to buy tickets but the staff told me to use the EasyCard for $20 discount ($40 discount roundtrip). Great deal! We opted for see-through Crystal Cabin.
I love the Crystal Cabin but my nephew seems so afraid.
It was very windy up top and we had lunch at Hi-Mart. I also loved the sweet potatoes outside the station. We grabbed some fruit drinks and sat by the stairs for about 30 minutes before heading down the zoo.
The little guy was so hyper for the zoo, this is his first time. He has tons of energy and goes ahead of us. He kept yelling once he sees new animals and drags me to see them too lol. And finally, his dream to see the Panda came true.
He asked me to take a photo of him and acted like he was bitten by the Black Panda.
All of us were exhausted exploring the zoo and it was scorching hot too so we decided to go. My nephew was the only one who disagreed saying there are more animals to see. It’s 3 vs 1 so he lost – and he gave in to his hunger so he agreed to leave as well lol.
The Taipei 101 was our last destination for the day. We took groufies outside the station for the tower and headed inside to look for food. For pasalubong, check out Jason’s Marketplace – there are mark down items and some are on Buy 1 Take 1 promo. One more thing to note is that they offer $50 OFF on $500 purchase (this offer may be for a limited period only). We grabbed some chocolates and Taiwan’s famous Pineapple Cake for pasalubong.
We went back to Ximen and explored the area a bit before heading back to the hotel.
Day 3 – The Failed Trip to the Flower Farm and a Mini Reunion Taichung Station Taroko Mall Taipei City Mall
We woke up very early for Taichung! My cousin works in Taichung and we haven’t seen her for like 3 years now. The goal was to meet her and we’ll go together to the Flower Farm and Rainbow Village.
It was a sunny morning in Taipei and we headed to Koh Kuang Bus Station to board a bus to Taichung. The weather gradually changed as we travel to Taichung. We reached Taichung Station just in time for lunch and it was raining hard.
My cousin Rose was already there waiting and we braved the rain and headed to Taroko Mall for lunch. My mother and my cousin had a lot of catching up to do. From time to time, we were checking if we can proceed to the Flower Farm but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating.
We headed to RJay Supermart, a Filipino grocery just a few blocks away from Taichung Station. They sell cheap pasalubong and we grabbed some chocolates and goods. The ladies there liked my chubby nephew and they were teasing him that he can eat everything he want but he should stay there.
5PM and still it was raining, we failed to see the Flower Farm and Rainbow Village. Too bad I know. Good thing we got reunited with my cousin so the trip there wasn’t a waste at all.
We boarded the 5:15 bus back to Taipei and arrived around 8PM. We saw another Jason’s Marketplace and hoarded more pasalubong before going home.
Day 4 – Very Lazy Rainy Day Guanghua Digital Plaza National Theater and Concert Hall Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall
Alarm was set for 7AM. We had coffee and bread for breakfast and even prepared. It was still raining and we were all tired from the trip to Taichung (and probably down because we did not see the Flower Farm lol) so we decided to take a nap first.
My nephew woke us at around 1PM nagging he was hungry. We left the hotel at around 2PM and had lunch at the Japanese restaurant in Ximending Walking District.
Gundam Base Taiwan – Guanghua Digital Plaza
I am currently looking for a PlayStation 3 controller so I Googled the best place for electronic gadgets in Taipei. Our next destination was Guanghua Digital Plaza, a massive cyber zone in Taipei. My nephew immediately saw the Nintendo Switch and he wanted me to buy it for him – reminding me it was his wish for his birthday last August. He was throwing tantrums and we were not in good terms during the entire exploration in Guanghua. I wasn’t able to find a PS3 controller though since most stores are on PS4. It was past 4PM when we left Guanghua.
We next headed to Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, one of Taipei’s famous landmark and tourist spot. This was shown in the movie #WalangForever as well. We were lucky to witness the changing of guards here.
If you could stay until around 6PM for sunset and the night lights, here’s what you can expect to see:
Day 5 – More of Taipei National Taiwan University Longshan Temple Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Taipei 101
Technically our last day in Taipei, we set the alarm for 6AM so we could maximize the day. We will never leave without visiting the National Taiwan University which was home to the hit Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden so it was the first in the itinerary for the day. We had lunch at Yoshinoya which is located just across the university.
The next stop was Longshan Temple which is located just outside Longshan Temple Station. They say that Longshan is the most loved temple in Taiwan and I felt that during our stay. People are solemnly praying and somehow I felt like being in ancient Formosa. We had merienda near the bakeshop and my mom got tired from all the walking and told us she’ll return to the hotel and call it a day.
We all went back to Ximen and rested for a bit. Originally, our next destination is the Elephant Mountain but my mom did not want to hike due to the injury and decided to just stay at the hotel. My nephew wanted to go with us but we told him to stay with his grandma.
We continued the journey and headed to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park instead so we can save time and skip hiking. We also saw the Taipei Dome which is still under construction – in my head I was wishing Utada Hikaru Live in Taipei awww. We walked through the park all the way to the Taipei City Hall and Taipei 101 Station. Back to Jason’s Marketplace, we bought some foods for dinner and the final stretch for pasalubong.
Day 6 – Going Home 😦 Taoyuan International Airport NAIA
Sad that it’s time to go home. We woke up at 4AM and had lite breakfast. We prepared and checked out at 6AM. We have heavier luggage now due to pasalubong. We again decided to take the bus to go to the airport.
We departed the Taipei Main Station at 7AM and arrived around 8AM at Taoyuan International Airport, plenty of time for our 10:45 flight back to Manila. We checked-in at Cebu Pacific Air counter and dropped our 60-kilo baggage. We had another breakfast at the food court before proceeding to the boarding gate.
Back to reality…
I will skip Taipei next time and just head straight to the below destinations 😀
Shifen
Jiufen
Yamingshan National Park
Xinshe Sea of Flowers
Zhongshe Flower Market
At least I have more reason to come back to Taiwan right? 🙂
